Culture
The value of handmade products reminds us that, in a fast-paced world, true wealth lies in the deep connection we consciously choose to consume.
In July 2023, I shared with you my experience at the first workshop on natural dyes alongside a family from the Boruca tribe—an indigenous community in Costa Rica.
I remember having a short, pleasant conversation with Doña Marina, moving from the inside out; just enough to reaffirm that what's special about life are the little things in their natural state, including ourselves. That morning, that moment, and this conversation were my inspiration for this capsule.
It has been a privilege to collaborate together. I deeply respect and honor Boruca women artisans. Their work, culture, and community deserve to be celebrated and admired not only for their art but also for their struggle to preserve their land, rights, customs, and traditions throughout their journey.
For Boruca women, weaving is an act of devotion and respect for their ancestors. A spiritual path that honors the flow of life through their culture. Each stitch expresses the labor of love that connects their tribe to nature—beginning with the origin of the natural dyes and fabrics, which will endure as long as the raw materials from which they are obtained. Each woven piece exists to embellish the natural rhythms of life. By interweaving the threads and colors, each pattern becomes a celebration of the close connection between the tribe and Mother Earth.
